15Mbps Router

I am switching to Roadrunner 15Mbps turbo WAN and I need a wired router that can handle the actual 15Mbps. Is there a router with a WAN port that is 15Mbps or higher that is reasonably priced and is relatively reliable?

Most routers are 100 Mbps

I just bought a Linksys BEFSR41 and the WAN port is 10Mbps. The switches are 10/100, but not the WAN port.

It's 10MBps not 10 Mbps

Mb = Mega bit
MB = Mega Byte

10Mb = 1MB (not exactly but you get the idea)

So your Router is 10/100 MegaBytes-per-second, not bits.

I didn't get any recommendations from this post, so I did some research on the gaming forums and the consensus was that a D-Link DGL-4100 was the best wired router for the money and it supports 802.11g. It has 1 10/100 auto sensing WAN and 4 10/100 auto sensing LANs. Transfer rate is 17.5 Mbps continuous and the connection is only 15 Mbps. The Linksys WRT54GS has lag problems, The BEFSX41 is slow and the BEFSR41 is a door stop. I didn't want to spend the money on an "N" version so I got the "g".

I have a similar service from road runner, before you buy the router you may want to see what they give you. The cable modem I got has 4 ports on it and therefore you may not need a router unless your wanting wireless for other pc's or a laptop. In the case of wireless I don't think your going to see those kinds of speeds anyway.

No it's a wired router. I have no faith in wireless, they run on 2.4 and microwaves and anything with an electrical field near them screw up the signal (besides security issues). I use cat 5 wires for everything and I'm hoping I can get 12Mbps or better. I have three pcs hooked up with less than 6 feet of wire on each. I will check and see if they supply LAN ports on the modem.

I've been real happy with my service, speeds are always great and only 2 outages in like 5 years which lasted no more than a few hours. Just ran this test a few minutes ago.

Why are you talking about 802.11 n and g if you're only bothered with using it wired?

You are aware that 802.11 is the wireless standard

Yes, I know. I just know that the DGL-4100 is the wired version of the DGL-4300 which is a "g" and I didn't want to spend the money on the wired version of the DGL-4500 which is a "N". Maybe I should have said that in the first place. I have severe noob-itis.

I hope that my speed equals 14 or better too. I'll test it on 7/1 when I hook it up.
